Leveraging Technology for Resilience and Decarbonization to be Focus of Today’s Inaugural Federal Sustainability Solutions Forum

Washington, DC – Today, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Digital Climate Alliance (DCA) will host the first Federal Sustainability Solutions Forum in Washington, DC. The Forum will convene senior U.S. government officials and private sector executives to discuss ways to invest, scale, and deploy readily available technologies to strengthen the sustainability, resiliency, and security of the U.S. government and its installations.

As the U.S. federal government will be implementing a range of Executive Orders focused on improving the sustainability and resilience of government buildings and energy infrastructure assets, this Forum will review several of the major executive actions and share public-private partnership models to help the federal government achieve its objectives.

“We see tremendous opportunity to advance towards our collective sustainability goals – economic, energy resilience and security and climate change – through the leadership of the U.S. federal government and its purchasing power. It is a “no regrets step” to harness the innovation and existing technology solutions of U.S. companies, such as the ones involved at today’s Forum, to keep the United States in a leadership position,” commented Lisa Jacobson, President, Business Council for Sustainable Energy.

“The United States is at a critical point to mitigate the impacts of climate change. As climate extremes are impacting families and businesses across the U.S., we need national-scale solutions,” offered Tom Lawler, Executive Director, Digital Climate Alliance. “This Forum will bring together experts to explore opportunities to advance innovation by the private sector, harness the market power of the federal government, and spur their collective ambition to accelerate decarbonization and drive economic growth.”

“Solving major global challenges like climate change and aggressive carbon emission reduction goals requires courage, collaboration, innovation and action, and the urgency grows with each passing day,” said Donny Simmons, President, Commercial HVAC Americas, Trane Technologies. “From industry and sector leaders in the built environment to federal and local governments to world leaders – we all must do our part. The good news is that decarbonization solutions for the built environment exist today that, if implemented at scale, could bend the curve on climate change. Working together with the U.S. federal government and other policy leaders, we can accelerate clean technologies and bolster the adoption of more energy efficient solutions that will create a better future for us all.”

“Schneider Electric is proud to lend our support and insights to this important dialogue. We believe the U.S. federal government can lead the rapid deployment of clean energy solutions and digital technologies that will not only make our country more sustainable, but also make us more resilient, more energy independent and more secure,” said Annette Clayton, CEO, Schneider Electric North America.
