Washington, D.C. – Lisa Jacobson, President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE), issued the following statement on the outcomes of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP 30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Belém, Brazil:
“Collaboration among more than 194 countries – alongside strong participation from U.S. subnational leaders – underscores a sustained global commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening climate resilience.
“COP 30 advanced implementation of the Paris Agreement through the launch of a multi-year action agenda and the Global Implementation Accelerator. BCSE supports these efforts and emphasizes that delivering results will require continued public-private partnership to expand clean, affordable, reliable, and resilient energy worldwide.
“A notable step forward is the Belém 4X Pledge on Sustainable Fuels, endorsed by countries including Brazil, Italy, and Japan, to quadruple sustainable fuel use by 2035. BCSE applauds this commitment to accelerate progress in hard-to-abate sectors.”
During COP 30, BCSE led a delegation of 20 U.S. businesses and energy trade organizations, working with governments and stakeholders to share real-economy perspectives on policies that drive energy investment and deployment. More information on BCSE’s goals and activities at COP 30 is available on our COP 30 webpage.
