Clean Energy Businesses Call on Congress to Support Robust Funding for Federal Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency Programs in FY2023 Budget

Washington, D.C. – Earlier this week, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) sent letters to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees in support of continued and increased funding for federal clean energy and energy efficiency programs in fiscal year 2023 (FY2023).

“In these letters, BCSE expresses the value and reasons why Congress must continue to provide robust federal funding for research, development, demonstration and deployment (RDD&D) across a broad set of clean energy and energy efficiency technologies both at home and abroad. Investing in these areas will yield powerful dividends in terms of energy security, economic benefit, and emission reductions,” commented BCSE President Lisa Jacobson.

The 2022 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook, recently released by the BCSE and BloombergNEF, underscores the growing momentum of clean energy technologies across the country. Congress can build on these market conditions by funding RDD&D as well as enacting complementary climate change policies and clean energy and energy tax measures this year. These investments will help to improve the nation’s grid reliability and safety, boost economic growth, and reduce environmental damage.
