Doubling Down on Energy Efficiency: Demand-Side Solutions for Decreasing Emissions

The Alliance to Save Energy and the Business Council for Sustainable Energy hosted an afternoon of discussion about energy efficiency action in U.S. domestic and international markets, and the critical role that efficiency plays to meet rising energy demand and deliver economic growth, energy affordability, security, resilience, and decarbonization.

The U.S. energy efficiency sector is committed to working with countries to meet the global goal to double the rate of annual energy efficiency improvements and incorporate energy efficiency into national climate action plans. In demonstration of this commitment, the event featured the public release of a U.S. private sector sign-on letter to the COP 30 Presidency in support of the UNFCCC goal of doubling the global rate of energy efficiency improvements.

Plus, participants learned how states and cities are taking the lead in advancing energy efficiency, increasing energy dominance, lowering costs, and boosting accessibility. This discussion highlighted state and local innovations through practical implementation and local leadership, while exploring how the public and private sectors can collaborate to expand investments and scale demand-side solutions nationwide.

The latest trends in policy, finance and deployment, both at home and abroad, were also discussed.
