BCSE members Autodesk and Trane Technologies elevated the topic of energy efficiency data in an event at the Cooling and Buildings Pavilion that also featured Arup and the NGO Built Change. Themes discussed included the importance of standardization and transparency of data to support better decision-making in the design and operation of buildings, and for reporting on ESG milestones and Science Based Targets (SBTI). Helen Walter-Terrinoni of Trane Technologies discussed how data is facilitating Trane’s work to optimize refrigerated transport and reduction of emissions and to reduce energy load in the design and retrofit of the built environment.
Rama Dunayevich of Autodesk offered several examples of where data collection and analysis delivered benefits to their clients. For one museum, data collection resulted in the reduction of operational carbon, optimal management of temperature, airflow and humidity, and the protection of sensitive assets. Dunayevich also challenged the audience and called for collective radical action across sectors and stakeholders plus transparency to transform the way we operate and deliver rapid and efficient decarbonization of the built environment.
