Amid a surge in data center demand, communities, policymakers, developers, and energy stakeholders are grappling with increasingly complex environmental, energy, and economic development questions. Arnold & Porter and the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) co-hosted a panel discussion on Thursday, September 24 featuring legal, policy, sustainability, energy, and industry leaders at the forefront of one of today’s most significant infrastructure and energy challenges. Panelists also provided an overview of the new wave of legal challenges and environmental disputes targeting data centers, drawing valuable lessons for those in the field.
The conversation examined challenges related to permitting, power demand, environmental review, community engagement, and clean energy, while highlighting practical approaches and lessons learned from projects currently navigating these issues.
