At BCSE’s first press briefing at COP 28, senior executives from BCSE’s delegation spoke on their company’s commitments to climate action and the progress of investment and technology deployment that is advancing the energy transition. Avik Dey, CEO of Capital Power, highlighted his company’s transition away from coal-fired power plants to clean energy, as well as its investments in carbon capture utilization and storage. Roeland Baan, CEO of Topsoe, spoke on the need for policy certainty to support new markets and to increase sustainable energy investments.
The panelists also spoke to their engagement at COP 28. Gene Gebolys, CEO of World Energy, celebrated the opportunity at COP to convene policymakers, suppliers, and technology distributors all together to discuss how to best deploy decarbonization solutions like sustainable aviation fuel. Scott Tew, Vice President, Sustainability and Managing Director, Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CEES), Trane Technologies stated that companies like Trane attend COP to shine a light on building decarbonization technologies that are currently being deployed around the world to reduce emissions.
