Washington, D.C. – The Presidents of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and the Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN) sent letters today to members of the House and Senate Leadership and to President Biden urging them to reach agreement by Memorial Day and enact into law prior to the August recess, a budget reconciliation package with robust and transformative climate change policies and clean energy, sustainable transportation and energy efficiency tax measures.
“While there is no one solution to the challenges presented to us by the pandemic, near-term disruptions to the global economy, and increasing impacts of climate change – it is time that both Congress and the Administration move forward to secure our country’s future. Advancing clean energy and energy efficiency tax measures as part of the budget reconciliation package is a necessary step if we are to ensure continued development and deployment of sustainable energy resources in the United States that are efficient, low-carbon and resilient,” remarked BCSE President Lisa Jacobson.
Lynn Abramson, President, Clean Energy Business Network, added, “We strongly urge Congressional leaders and the Administration to prioritize passage of a clean energy tax package this month. Pushing this bill over the finish line would be an inflection point for the deployment of clean energy and energy efficiency technologies and be an important win for national security, global competitiveness, and jobs in communities across the country.”
