BCSE Statement on State of the Union Address
March 11, 2024

Washington, D.C. – In response to President Biden’s State of the Union address, BCSE President Lisa Jacobson offered the following statement:

“In his State of the Union address, President Biden called attention to the United States’ strong infrastructure, energy, and climate policies that are boosting the U.S. economy. These policies, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), are already creating billions of dollars in investment and tens of thousands of American jobs through their clean energy and energy efficiency incentives.

“Clean energy is good business, and America is stronger and more competitive because of its clean energy investments. As reported in the recently released 2024 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook, the economic impact of federal policies can already be seen in 2023’s record-breaking numbers of manufacturing plant announcements, energy transition investment, and deployment of clean energy, energy storage, and decarbonization technologies.

“BCSE looks forward to working with the Biden Administration and Congress to enact further policies driving the energy transition and to ensure IRA and IIJA funds are distributed efficiently and equitably.”
