BCSE Statement on Senate Vote to Repeal Solar Tariff Pause
May 10, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Lisa Jacobson, President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE), offered the following statement in response to Senate-passed legislation to repeal the Biden administration’s June 2022 two-year moratorium for new solar tariffs:

“Increasing the United States’ energy security and investing in American manufacturing is critical to advancing the clean energy transition. However, this can be done without putting U.S. businesses and thousands of American jobs in jeopardy.

“Growth in the solar industry must continue to accelerate for the United States to meet decarbonization goals. Now is the time to urgently move forward, not turn back. BCSE commends the Biden administration’s decision to veto this legislation and invest in domestic clean energy industries.”
