BCSE Statement on IPCC AR-6 Working Group III Report on Mitigation of Climate Change

Washington, D.C. – In response to the April 4 release by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the Sixth Assessment Report Working Group III report Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change, BCSE President Lisa Jacobson issued the following statement:

“With this latest IPCC report, we find ourselves receiving yet another clarion call to act from the scientific community and accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions. We know we can do this because renewable energy technologies are now cost competitive in many regions, and technology prices continue to fall. The markets for battery storage, hydrogen, sustainable transportation and other decarbonization technologies are expanding.

“Policies have played a critical role in advancing this energy transition.  We call on the U.S. Congress to enact clean energy and energy efficiency tax measures that will place the U.S. economy in a position to lead the global energy transition.”
