Business Council for Sustainable Energy Welcomes New Board of Directors and Members in 2026
January 27, 2026

Washington, D.C. – As the United States faces renewed opportunities to improve energy affordability and reliability, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) welcomes new Board and associate members for 2026.

New Board members beginning their first full-year term include Debra Phillips, President and CEO of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and Sam Hodas, Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs for National Grid. NEMA also joined as a new associate member.

“BCSE’s coalition is made stronger by the insight, direction, and industry experience that Debra and Sam bring to our Board of Directors,” said BCSE President Lisa Jacobson. “As we kick off 2026, we know that America needs affordable, reliable energy now. The growing BCSE coalition represents the broad portfolio of energy technologies that are ready to hit the ground running and drive America’s energy expansion.”

“I’m honored to join the BCSE Board of Directors at a moment when America is facing unprecedented growth in electricity demand, and the need for affordable, reliable energy has never been more urgent,” said Debra Phillips, President and CEO of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). “NEMA and our more than 300 member companies are proudly building the technologies that power modern life, from grid infrastructure to efficient buildings and industrial systems. I look forward to partnering with BCSE’s coalition to advance practical policy solutions that strengthen U.S. competitiveness and expand access to energy.”

“I am honored to represent National Grid on the BCSE Board of Directors at such a pivotal moment for America’s energy future,” said Sam Hodas, Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs for National Grid. “BCSE plays an essential role in bringing together businesses from across the energy spectrum to advance practical, durable policies that strengthen reliability, expand access to affordable energy, and support continued innovation. I look forward to working with fellow Board members to help ensure our energy system delivers for customers and communities.”

New associate members that have joined BCSE’s coalition in the past year also include GeoExchange, Molecule Group, and Carbon Direct. These companies join BCSE’s coalition of 65+ member companies and trade associations from the energy efficiency, natural gas, and renewable energy sectors and more. In total, BCSE members account for $3.8 trillion in market capitalization and nearly 1 million employees.

“We’re thrilled to welcome new partners in BCSE’s efforts to advance modern energy solutions in our communities and to collaborate with leaders in Congress and the Administration to build a more secure and competitive economy,” said Allison Hull, Chair of the BCSE Board of Directors and Director, Government Affairs of Sempra. “As BCSE’s coalition grows, it continues as a strong business voice advocating for policies that can expand energy access, create new opportunities, and lower costs.”

BCSE’s work in 2026 will be centered around the launch of a new initiative. Under the banner of the American Energy Abundance Alliance, BCSE members and partners are rallying around a vision of America’s energy prosperity. The alliance aims to unleash U.S. energy resources to lower costs, increase national security, boost economic competitiveness, and protect the environment – all at the same time.
