U.S. Clean Energy Industries to Benefit from Access to Green Climate Fund
Washington, DC - Business Council for Sustainable Energy President Lisa Jacobson issued the following statement on the Senate Committee on Appropriations’ passage of the FY2016 Department of State, Foreign Operations (SFOPs), and Related Programs Appropriations Bill:
"The Business Council for Sustainable Energy applauds the Senate Appropriations Committee for ensuring that the FY2016 State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs appropriations bill does not prohibit the U.S. from honoring its inaugural pledge to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). In doing so, the United States can maintain a leadership role at the GCF and U.S. companies will be able to access financing mechanisms that will help mitigate the risks of investment in developing countries and will promote the deployment of U.S. clean energy technologies abroad and the employment of American workers at home.
“The Council commends the leadership of Senators Merkley (D-OR), Kirk (R-IL) and Udall (D-NM) for co-sponsorship of the amendment which allowed for this outcome.”
