U.S. Business Calls on Congress to Support International Funds to Deploy Clean Energy
Washington, DC – The Business Council for Sustainable Energy, on behalf of its members in the energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy sectors, sent letters to members of Congress expressing support of the U.S. contribution to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Climate Investment Funds (CIFs) in the Administration’s FY2016 federal budget request.
“U.S. support of these international funds creates new market opportunities for American clean energy companies and enables American businesses to provide U.S. technology and innovation to developing countries,” comments BCSE President Lisa Jacobson. “Furthermore, the financial support of vehicles such as the Green Climate Fund and Climate Investment Funds will help to create free, fair and functioning markets in which U.S. firms can compete and do business.”
The Council supports the United States efforts to lead this year’s international discussion on climate change and views the fulfillment of the initial pledge to the GCF as a key demonstration of this leadership.
