On the Road to Rio: Release of Driving Transformation to Energy Efficient Buildings
The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) is pleased to announce the release of the second edition of Driving Transformation to Energy Efficient Buildings: Policies and Actions, a report published today by Johnson Controls and supported by the BCSE and global partners Center for Clean Air Policy, the U.S. Green Building Council and the World Green Building Council.
As the world’s attention turns to the 20th anniversary of the first Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this report will help policymakers create enabling environments and the investment climate needed to accelerate the deployment of energy efficiency in buildings around the world. A major component of the Rio+20 Conference, to be held June 13-22, will be an effort to galvanize support of the UN Secretary General’s Susthttp://www.uncsd2012.org/rio20/ainable Energy for All initiative. One of its three main objectives is to double the rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030, and this report is a tangible tool to help countries and communities achieving this goal.
“A tremendous opportunity exists in the built environment to save energy, to save money and to promote healthier environments. This toolkit helps pave the way towards seizing this opportunity,” remarks BCSE President Lisa Jacobson.
