January 22, 2015 - The Council is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the 2015 edition of the Sustainable Energy in America Factbook in Washington, DC on February 4th.
For the third year in a row, the BCSE has commissioned Bloomberg New Energy Finance to produce the Factbook, which provides the latest industry information and trends from the energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy sectors in the United States through 2014. A preview of some of the key findings include:
- US economy is becoming more energy-productive and less energy-intensive – with efficiency improvements in buildings, transportation and new financing models breaking new ground.
- The US power sector is decarbonizing, with the contribution or renewable energy rising from 8.3% to 12.8% in that last several years and the production and consumption of natural gas hitting record highs in 2014. Since 2000, 93% of new power capacity built in the US has come from natural gas and renewables.
- In 2014, the US invested $51.8 billion in clean energy, a 7% increase from 2013 levels.
