Constellation Energy to Invest $40 million in Solar Farm for SMUD Share

Constellation Energy to Invest $40 million in Solar Farm for SMUD Share

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission today, Constellation Energy said it will obtain $40 million in project financing to pay for the construction of the 30-megawatt solar generation project in Elk Grove, which will generate enough electricity to light up to 30,000 homes.

Construction is slated for completion at the end of 2011.  The project wiill be owned and operated by Constellation and is one of several planned by SMUD, which has purchased electricity from Constellation for over 20 years.
