Clean Energy Coalition Applauds Congressional Agreement on Comprehensive Package with COVID-19 Relief, Appropriations, Tax and Energy Legislation
End-of-Year Package Will Support Economic Recovery and Climate Action
Washington, D.C. – Tonight, Congress is expected to pass a comprehensive end-of-year package of legislation that will support economic recovery and climate action. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 will provide funding for key federal energy related programs, and will include sections on energy and tax policy. Together, these policies will create jobs and reduce emissions by expanding clean energy deployment.
BCSE President Lisa Jacobson offered the following statement:
“The inclusion of energy and tax provisions in the end-of-year funding package is the result of years of work by the committees of jurisdiction in both chambers to write smart, durable and bipartisan legislation. Federal action to support clean energy is more urgent than ever as clean energy industries work to recover pre-pandemic levels of employment and growth.
“BCSE is hopeful that we can build upon this bipartisan action in the 117th Congress. American citizens want clean, affordable, reliable, resilient and safe energy, and energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy can deliver on these values.”
