CEBN and BCSE Applaud the Launch of Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations
Washington, DC – The Clean Energy Business Network and the Business Council for Sustainable Energy applaud the announcement from the Department of Energy establishing the new Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, to be led by Kelly Cummins. The funding provided for this office by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will support the demonstration of new technologies in the field, filling the gap between research and development and widespread deployment.
Lynn Abramson, President of the Clean Energy Business Network, commented:
“The Clean Energy Business Network has frequently cited the lack of funding for demonstration projects as a critical barrier to the commercialization of early-stage technologies. We look forward to working with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to ensure that its programs are accessible to small businesses and help them reach target markets and grow.”
Lisa Jacobson, President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, said:
“The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations is filling a critical gap in the clean energy research and development cycle, by helping to overcome market barriers that exist between R&D and widespread deployment. The office will foster partnerships, leverage private capital and help create jobs in many of the clean technology sectors that will be needed to reach net-zero by 2050.”
