Calpine’s Geothermal Power Profiled in Scientific American
July 2, 2010
BCSE member, Calpine Corporation, is profiled in the July edition of Scientific American for its unique partnership with the city of Santa Rosa, California. The Santa Rosa Geysers Recharge Project pumps 12 million gallons of treated wastewater 40 miles outside of Santa Rosa for use in Calpine’s Geysers geothermal plants. This creative partnership allows Santa Rosa to avoid discharging the waste water in the Russian River and has revived Calpine’s geothermal steam fields.
