Clean Energy Business Coalition Urges Adoption of Energy Infrastructure Act and More
Washington, DC – The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) released a letter today urging Congress to enact the Energy Infrastructure Act, authored by Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), as a first step to addressing energy infrastructure needs. The legislation, as outlined in a discussion draft released in late June, is expected to provide the framework for the energy title of the larger bipartisan infrastructure bill that is currently being negotiated.
Lisa Jacobson, President of BCSE, made the following statement upon release of the coalition’s letter to Congress.
“The BCSE is pleased to see Senator Manchin take a technology-inclusive approach in his Energy Infrastructure Act discussion draft. Clean energy and energy efficiency drive a competitive economy, and the measures under consideration would create jobs and support American industry and prosperity.
“America needs modern energy infrastructure to maintain industrial leadership and to protect homes and businesses from more intense and frequent extreme weather. Additional policies are needed to expand the use of energy efficiency and clean energy solutions in our businesses, homes, and state and federal facilities such as schools, public housing, and military bases.
“The BCSE calls on Congress to secure the future and enact transformative policy this year. Federal energy policy must recognize the value of clean energy and energy efficiency to the competitiveness of our economy and workforce, and our ability to mitigate the impacts of climate change.”
