BCSE Statement on Senate Special Committee on the Climate Crisis Report

Washington, DC – Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) President Lisa Jacobson made the following statement regarding the release of the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis Report “The Case for Climate Action: Building a Clean Energy Economy for the American People”:

“The Special Committee’s report contains strong policy ideas, as well as a vital message about the power of federal climate action to deploy existing clean energy solutions that expand economic opportunities and create jobs. BCSE agrees with report’s conclusion that Congressional action can drive alignment across the economy. Stable, economy-wide policies unlock the fastest and most cost-effective climate responses from the private sector.”

“The BCSE applauds the focus on policy tools with proven impact, including American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-like spending programs, successful tax policies for renewable energy deployment, and performance contracting for energy efficiency.”

“Clean energy policy has historically had strong support from both Democrats and Republicans, and the BCSE looks forward to seeing collaboration across the aisle in the Senate. The American Energy Innovation Act is an example of meaningful bipartisan energy and climate policy, and the BCSE continues to recommend its passage.”
