BCSE Statement on Obama Administration's Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Plan

Washington, DC -- The Business Council for Sustainable Energy released the following statement from Council President Lisa Jacobson in response to the release of the Obama Administration's Fiscal Year 2014 Budget.

"The Council welcomes the release of President Obama's 2014 budget and commends his Administration's commitment to continued investment in a broad range of federal clean energy tax measures and research, development and deployment initiatives.

"The Council supports the budget plan's increased funding for the Department of Energy and encourages continued funding for programs administered by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).  The Council also appreciates the Administration's leadership and recognition of the vital role that tax policy plays in lowering costs and accelerating deployment.

"As evidenced in the Sustainable Energy in America 2013 Factbook, which was recently released by the Business Council for Sustainable Energy and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, affordable, homegrown and clean energy sources are powering the U.S. economy with jobs and investment, and are promoting the security and diversity of our energy supply.

"Strategic federal investments in clean energy sectors are in the best interest of American taxpayers and underpin a well-reasoned national energy strategy that improves our economic conditions at home and strengthens America's competitiveness in the global marketplace.

"The Council looks forward to working with the Obama Administration and Congress to enact a federal budget that fosters U.S. leadership in clean energy sectors."
