BCSE Statement on House Passage of the Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act of 2010

Washington, DC —The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE)—a coalition of leading companies and trade associations from America’s energy efficiency, natural gas, and renewable energy industries—released the following statement from BCSE President Lisa Jacobson on the House passage today of the Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act of 2010.

“The Business Council for Sustainable Energy commends the House of Representatives on the passage of the Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act and applauds Representatives Matsui, Dingell, Rush and Eshoo for their efforts to enact this important bipartisan piece of legislation.

“The legislation will help clean tech firms by providing government assistance to export their goods and services abroad.  It is rewarding to see that Congress recognizes the important role that clean technology can play in putting Americans back to work and strengthen our manufacturing sector. It is our hope that Congress will build upon this momentum and press forward with comprehensive energy and climate change legislation that will provide the critical market signals needed to build domestic markets for clean energy and energy efficiency goods and services in order to continue to expand and strengthen the economy.”

H.R. 5156 the Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act of 2010 was introduced by Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) with the support of Subcommittee Chairman Bobby Rush (D-IL), Congressman John Dingell (D-MI), and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA).
