BCSE Statement on Framework for CLEAN Future Act
Washington, DC – Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) President Lisa Jacobson issued the following statement regarding the release of the framework for the CLEAN Future Act.
“The BCSE is pleased to see members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee release a framework for the CLEAN Future Act, which takes a comprehensive, inclusive and economy-wide approach to address climate change with the goal of achieving a 100 percent clean energy economy in the United States by 2050.
“The framework supports the recommendations of the international scientific community regarding climate change and will focus investments to modernize the nation’s infrastructure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. The framework recognizes that the BCSE clean energy portfolio of energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy is expanding the U.S. economy, delivering affordable, safe, reliable power to homes and businesses, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating jobs.
“We applaud House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Subcommittee Chairmen Paul Tonko and Bobby Rush, and the other members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, for their leadership in developing the framework. We also recognize the efforts of their staff in bringing the proposal forward.
“BCSE welcomes the opportunity to review the discussion draft when it is released at the end of January. As the legislation moves through the legislative process, we will work to ensure that it supports the deployment of the full scope of clean energy technologies in a meaningful way for power generation, energy storage, building efficiency and transportation.”
