Washington, DC - The Business Council for Sustainable Energy released the following statement from Council President Lisa Jacobson in response to President Obama's comments in his second inaugural address on sustainable energy and climate change.
"BCSE commends President Barak Obama for reaffirming his commitment to sustainable energy sources and to US efforts to combat climate change in his second inaugural speech. Administration leadership is vital to ensuring that secure, reliable and clean energy resources are available to underpin the US economy and that US jobs and innovation continues to drive the transformation to low-carbon technologies.
"A revolution is transforming how Americans produce, consume and even think about energy. Today's energy mix in the United States is radically different from that of a generation ago. Low carbon sources such as natural gas, renewable energy and energy efficiency are on the rise. The President's strong statement in support of US leadership sends a positive signal that this momentum will continue -- benefiting US households, businesses and the environment."
