BCSE Statement in Response to Obama Administration's Call for

Extension of Critical Clean Energy Credits as Part of Economic To-Do List

WASHINGTON, DC — The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) issued the following statement from BCSE President Lisa Jacobson in reaction to President Obama's statements this week in support of two vital clean energy incentives, the Production Tax Credit and the Advanced Energy Credit for Manufacturing (IRC 48c).

“Targeted tax incentives to expand clean energy businesses and manufacturing jobs are vital to the economic recovery and are not just a to-do, but a must do for Congress this year.

The Production Tax Credit and the Advanced Energy Credit for Manufacturing are proven engines for jobs and economic development, while providing domestic, clean energy to millions of Americans.

"The President's remarks today in Iowa calling for urgent action to extend these effective policy drivers for economic growth and US clean energy manufacturing elevate the imperative for Congress to act."

The Business Council for Sustainable Energy is a coalition of companies and trade associations from the energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy sectors, and also includes independent electric power producers, investor-owned utilities, public power and commercial end-users. Founded in 1992, the Council advocates for policies that expand the use of commercially-available clean energy technologies, products and services. The coalition’s diverse business membership is united around the revitalization of the economy and the creation of a secure and reliable energy future for America.
