BCSE Launches 20 Year Anniversary Briefing Series with
U.S. House of Representatives Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus

WASHINGTON, DC - The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) will launch its 2012 State of the Industry Series on Wednesday, May 9, with the congressional briefing "Clean Energy Markets:  Investment and Policy Trends," at 2:30 pm in the Gold Room (2168) of the Rayburn House Office Building.   The United States House of Representatives Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus is sponsoring the event.

The event will include opening remarks by Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus Co-Chairmen Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD-6) and Chis Van Hollen (D-MD-8), followed by a moderated panel discussion focused on market trends and policy drivers for commercially available clean energy technologies.  Ethan Zindler of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Juancho Eekhout of San Diego Gas & Electric, Mark Wagner of Johnson Controls, and Joe Allen of Solar Turbines will be the panelists.

The event will give attendees an overview of the investment and market trends in clean energy industries by highlighting the commercial dynamics impacting the energy sector, new innovations in the power sector and the benefits to consumers, the opportunities and challenges to more widespread deployment and job creation, and how Congress can support the business community in creating jobs and increasing domestic competitiveness.

The briefing will also give attendees insight into particular renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.  Speaking about the importance of the briefing, panelist Joe Allen of Solar Turbines said, "I think this briefing will give policy makers some good insights into why combined heat and power (CHP) is one of the cleanest and most cost effective ways to improve U.S. industrial efficiency and grid reliability."

The 2012 State of the Industry Series is part of the Council's 20 year anniversary celebrations.  Industry leaders from the energy efficiency, renewable energy and natural gas sectors came together in 1992 to form the BCSE as a coalition dedicated to creating a more secure and sustainable energy future.  That vision continues will be reaffirmed as the Council's members work together to discuss and advance policies that help the U.S. meet its energy needs and that revitalize the American economy.  The Council's anniversary sponsors include the American Gas Association, the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, Johnson Controls, the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association, the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association and Sempra Energy.
