BCSE Co-Hosts Briefing on Industrial Energy Efficiency

Industrial Efficiency:
Economic Development and Energy Savings
through State-Federal-Private Collaboration

Thursday, November 17, 1:00 p.m.
Room B-369, Rayburn House Office Building

The Business Council for Sustainable Energy, Association of State Energy Research and Technology Transfer Institutions (ASERTTI) and Alliance for Industrial Efficiency organized a briefing in cooperation with the House Manufacturing Caucus that provided a unique angle on industrial efficiency and advanced manufacturing by focusing on collaborative approaches toward technological innovation and economic development occurring today through partnerships of states, private companies, universities, and the federal government.  The briefing described ways in which manufacturing and industrial facilities are becoming more energy efficient, increasing their global competitiveness, and fostering economic development through technologies, such as combined heat and power and waste heat recovery, and through advanced manufacturing and industrial efficiency best practices.  The sponsoring organizations brought successes and recommendations for future collaboration to light in several States and suggested means by which to bring similar types of efforts to Districts and States, if they do not already exist.

Presentations

Larry Boyd, Energy Industries of Ohio
John Cuttica, Energy Resources Center, University of Illinois, Chicago
